Amman August 2007
The last night there..

One of the most amazing things that I’ve seen in Amman this year when I went, is street signs.

And I don’t mean by that the traffic thing or the guidance issue as well, I mean the beautiful colorful signs that mostly assemble artistic installations in the way it is chapped and “installed”.

Like that huge one in the crossroad after we went out the famous books @ café.

More over, streets are like ramps beatified with lights and the Jordanian flag in different sizes like the one in the rainbow street on the façade of the small primary school or the sings that made me hear what is written on.

I may say that streets of Amman are speaking colorfully.

مش عارفة إيه علاقة وسط البلد بلأداءات التمثيلية من الناس

الحركات، المصطلحات، اللبس، الشكل

و كأن وسط البلد دي عاصمة كل من أراد أن يُرى بعين تري زيفه

قد أكون ظالمة لبعض من إضطروا للتواجد داخل هذه العاصمة بدافع إن أصدقاءهم من السكان الأصليين لوسط البلد..

بس هذا المصطلح موجود فقط في المدن و حيث يرعى المثقفون المدعيون أغنامهم، أو يرعون هم كأغنام.

إحنا عمرنا ماسمعنا عن وسط بلد في سيوة ولا في رشيد ولا في الأقصر... و إذا إستخدم هذا المصطلح فهو إشارة إلى مركز المواصلات أو أوسع ميدان في البلد أو الأسواق أو كمان مكان الشركات والسفارات و الحاجات اللي مفيش منها إلا مكان واحد بس..

ما علينا جايز أنا اللي عندي المشكلة...

Stenope

I have started the experiment during an exhibition that i was coordinating 2005 in bibliotheca alexandrina. and i really liked to try it my self although it's not easy to find the materials to use in my home country because people stoped using it and get to work more with the digital cameras, which are good and quick. But the stenope or the pinhole cameras are helping more in geting a pre manipulated image. distortion and light details are more artistic in my opinion....,it's not a usual way to make photography, a primitive very primitive camera.. i actually used a can to make it.
I went to several cities in Egypt to collect picture.
Siwa, Rosita, Cairo and Alexandria. always loved photography, but i'm so glad that i started my research by stenope. Although I didn't get the perfect result at the beginning.
